Dear Teachers,

There are a few things I would like to address concerning Attendance.

– Attendance needs to be submitted during each period of the day. Preferably within the first 15 minutes of class. Also Fridays are very important because we do not have homeroom and class time is shorten, please remember to submit your attendance in a timely manner.

– “A” is for Absent and “T” is for Tardy if a student is present no need to mark anything. If you make a mistake just send me an email and I can correct it. If the student is testing or with another teacher (with your approval) you can let me know OR you can type it in the notes section next to their name when submitting your attendance. The same thing goes for me, if you see an attendance code and the student is clearly present send me an email or call x100 to inform me.

– This year I have also given you the “test” option. You can use this code when you are aware that a student is indeed present but not in your class due to testing i.e. ISTEPS, ECA’s or a final. If your certain they are then you can use the testing option.

– If a student is sitting in your class and is not on your roster please send them to the office please. We want to make sure every student is accounted for and where they should be.

-Remember a green light must be shown to you to indicate that the attendance has been submitted to Powerschool.

If you have a sub in your room please have a roster for them so I can be notified of who was NOT in class or tardy. Class sign in sheets will not work because I don’t have your class rosters. I need to know who was not in class and I can mark them accordingly. Also if a student can bring it down during that period it would work best or the sub can call ext. 100 to tell me who is absent or email if available.

Please send me your roster when you are going on a field trip of which students are going/staying then the day of confirm that all of your students on the roster are in the trip. I don’t want to mark a student field trip when he/she is really absent or truant.

Also if I parent notifies you that a student will be absent for a period of time or death in family, please let me know as I will do the same . Any attendance notes can be put into my mail box.

Lastly, I really need attendance to be taken at every class period, If you are having any issues please let me know.
